Hi Miss Alice
With your glass eyes what kind of dream can you see? Are you fascinated with?

Country: Hungary
Human name: Elizabeta Héderváry
Apparent age: 25 (Never admit to being older even though she is)
Gender: Female
Appearance: Her long dark blond hair is often flowing down in the wind, adorned with a flower representing Lake Balaton. Depending on her mode she dresses in a tactical olive military uniform or a dress traditional to her origins. Her eyes are green to tie in each outfit and her flag, making a nice rounded appearance for this little country.

Strengths: What are they good at? Also give a little explanation, if you will.
- Stubborn, keep at anything until she feels its worth giving in.
- Fierce, never back down from something she feels for.
- Horses. She never forgot her times ruling with horses and this can be helpful during these odd years..
- Swords.
- Courage.
Weaknesses: Everybody must have weaknesses, what are your character's?
- Over Confidence
- Low sense of self
- Children
- Minorities
- Turkey
Fears: What do they fear?
- Turkey
- Taxidermy
- Failure
Personality: Hungary is a lovely, valiant young woman who doesn't like to be called 'old'. She's been a tomboy in the past, going so far as to cause a few countries to believe she was male. Once puberty hit, she came to terms with her girlish side. Over the years she's become a bit of a caring older sister type, but still likes to keep her tomboy roots. Hungary is an advent Yaoi fan and is often seen reading it. Most would advise that it's best not to disturb her when she's reading. If she gets disturbed, then it usually results in a fair bit of blunt force trauma. She's always willing to take any challenge, to prove that because she's a girl, she can do anything that any guy can do. Although there is one exception; She can't hold her liquor as well as most men, but will still happily be a bar mate to anyone who wants company. Elizabeta [Hungary] is a Gemini and often times fits it since she tends to act as if she has two halves. A sweet, girly side and, of course, a rougher more manly side.
She represents both Hungary and the Magyar peoples. When she was younger, she loved with Her Uncle Hun and her Cousin Turkey.
Normally she is gentle and calm in character but in fight she right then changes to neesan-like expressions and rides through the wilderness on her horse with a bow or a gun in one hand, as a former equestrian tribe. She has, however, a complex about her fighting skills getting rusty after settling down. She's experienced a lot of fighting in her years and because of that, has learned to defend herself. She also considers that she is still just as strong and as good at fighting as she was back then. Time, of course, passed and, as luck would have it, she became a country. In WW1, she had to surrender land as 'compensation'. In WW2, she was invaded by Soviets and, perhaps, hold a bit of a grudge against them for that. Her oh-so famous rebellion against communism, on the other hand, was a total flunk and it stayed in her country until around 1990. Even though she's had a bit of a rough past, she tends to be peaceful, even though she's not as powerful as some of the bigger, stronger countries like China or America. As time passes, she tries hard to make sure that her history remains rich and important and would do anything for the ones she cares about. No questions asked.
Hungary is actually older then most nations and that is the root of her motherly or sisterly roles toward many different nations. She tends to get nervous when she's in large bodies of water and cannot see the land.
Relationships can be a bit odd for her. Men will have a tough time bridging the gap between buddy to lover. While she can be very close to boys she often is too blind to take note of any feelings beyond friendship. Women also have a challenge as Elizabeta often stands at a distance from females she views as equals. Friends of this gender often will be too deeply needed to allow for a transition into lover or not even be on her radar as anything more than a girl to protect and nurture.
And last, but not least, music is an all time favorite. NO matter what kind it is.

Relationships: Family, Friends, and Enemies
- Austria: She does have defiant feelings about being under Austria's rule but at the same time she harbors complicated, yearning like feelings towards him. She often feels self conscious around him due to a lack of anything romantic between them. They still interact closely as friends and share a deep bond.
- Croatia: Hungary may have been a bit hard on Croatia in the past, trying to get her stronger while keeping her as a sort of servant. As time moved on and she got older, Hungary tried to adapt to a nicer relationship with Croatia, treating her as more of a sister to help along.
- Germany: Hungary can convince him to come for a drink now and then, probably just because beer is involved. He wont put up a huge arguement over coming and most of his stand back attitude is just a part of his personality. They are on friendly term but you won't see these two hanging out much.
- Italy: Hungary stood in as Italy's older sister in the past and she continues to watch over him to this day. She related to him when he was bullied by others in the past and often stood in for him due to being bullied herself. Now that he is older she tries to stand back and let him 'man up' for himself, though she's still his sister in the end.
- Kosovo: Hungary is still getting to know Kosovo, but she absolutely adores his values and morals dealing with minorites. She'd happily take him in a a younger brother and be there for him as he needed.
- Poland: Hungary and Poland are the best of friends. They can always be seen getting along together. He gives her advise, helps her chase people around for pictures, and is always there for her. They can often be found together having a good time.
- Prussia: Though Prussia often seems to avoid Hungary she does enjoy time around him. She usually can be found playfully picking on him though she'd consider him a friend more so than foe. If he didn't always run off they could possibly become better friends..And maybe if she didn't /playfully/ hit him with her frying pan. She partially hates Prussia because he has been making fun of her hardships since childhood.
- Romania: Romania drives Hungary nuts because she always looks down on her and sees her as 'weaker.' Hungary has tried to many times to prove her strength and genuinely wishes Romania to accept her as an equal. She went so far as to take Transylvania from her, keeping him for some time under her own wing.
- Serbia: In the past Hungary was a bit 'unfair' to Serbia. They are now working on establishing a friendlier relationship. Hungary admires Serbia for some things like Serbia's treatment of minorities, commending the cultural autonomy and use of minority languages in Serbia.
- Transylvania: Hungary took Transylvania from Romania, causing a lot of issues with the two girls. However, this is not the case with Transylvania. She grew to adore him, acting as a substitute mother until he grew. Now that he is older she still enjoys keeping an eye on him as a caring sister-type.
- Turkey: Turkey has always been there to support Hungary. Though he may have been a bit of a bully when she was younger, she feels to only helped to make her stronger. She gets along with him just fine so long as he can keep his hands to himself. His rather promiscuous side can get under her skin.
- Ukraine: Issues
- United Kingdom: England and Hungary are on relatively friendly terms. Both are still trying to get used to each other and develop a friendship further. Hungary is working on causing England to warm up a bit more to the German brothers. She ideally like the whole gang to be able to hang out more and catch a drink together.
History: This state was well-functioning and the nation's military power allowed the Hungarians to conduct successful fierce campaigns and raids from Constantinople to as far as today's Spain. A later defeat at the Battle of Lechfeld in 955 signaled a provisory end to most campaigns on foreign territories, at least towards West.
Saint Ladislaus I of Hungary conquered Croatia in 1091
In 1241–1242, the kingdom received a major blow with the Mongol (Tatar) Invasion struggle with the Ottoman Empire.
After King Louis died without a male heir, the country was stabilized only when Sigismund of Luxembourg (1387–1437) succeeded to the throne, who in 1433 also became Holy Roman Emperor.
For half a year in 1437, there was an antifeudal and anticlerical peasant revolt in Transylvania, the Budai Nagy Antal Revolt, which was strongly influenced by Hussite ideas.
In 1479, the Hungarian army destroyed the Ottoman and Wallachian troops at the Battle of Breadfield. Abroad she defeated the Polish and German imperial armies of Frederick at Breslau (Wrocław). Matthias' mercenary standing army, the Black Army of Hungary was an unusually large army for its time, and it conquered parts of Austria, Vienna (1485) and parts of Bohemia.
In 1521, the strongest Hungarian fortress in the South, Nándorfehérvár (the Hungarian name of Belgrade, Serbia) fell to the Turks. The early appearance of Protestantism further worsened internal relations in the anarchical country.
After some 150 years of wars with the Hungarians and other states, the Ottomans gained a decisive victory over the Hungarian army at the Battle of Mohács in 1526.
In 1686, the Holy League's army, containing over 74,000 men from various nations, reconquered Buda from the Turks. After some more crushing defeats for the Ottomans in the next few years, the entire Kingdom of Hungary was removed from Ottoman rule by 1718.
The Austrian-Habsburg government settled large groups of Serbs and other Slavs in the depopulated south, allowed mass Vlach (Romanian) immigration into Transylvania and settled Germans in various areas, but Hungarians were not allowed to settle or re-settle in the south of the Great Plain
On 15 March 1848, mass demonstrations in Pest and Buda enabled Hungarian reformists to push through a list of 12 demands
The Habsburg Ruler and his advisors skillfully manipulated the Croatian, Serbian and Romanian peasantry, led by priests and officers firmly loyal to the Habsburgs, and induced them to rebel against the Hungarian government. The Hungarians were supported by the vast majority of the Slovak, German and Rusyn nationalities and by all the Jews of the kingdom, as well as by a large number of Polish, Austrian and Italian volunteers.
Initially, the Hungarian forces (Honvédség) defeated Austrian armies. To counter the successes of the Hungarian revolutionary army, Habsburg Emperor Franz Joseph I asked for help from the "Gendarme of Europe", Czar Nicholas I, whose Russian armies invaded Hungary. This made Artúr Görgey surrender in August 1849. The leader of the Austrian army, Julius Jacob von Haynau, became governor of Hungary for a few months, and ordered the execution of the 13 Martyrs of Arad, leaders of the Hungarian army, as well as Prime Minister Batthyány in October 1849.
Because of external and internal problems, reforms seemed inevitable and major military defeats of Austria forced the Habsburgs to negotiate the Austro-Hungarian Compromise of 1867, by which the dual Monarchy of Austria–Hungary was formed.
In 1873, the old capital Buda and Óbuda were officially united with Pest, thus creating the new metropolis of Budapest.
That level of growth compared very favorably to that of other European nations such as Britain (1.00%), France (1.06%), and Germany (1.51%).
Austria–Hungary drafted 9 million (fighting forces: 7,8 million) soldiers in World War I (over 4 million from the Kingdom of Hungary) on the side of Germany, Bulgaria and Turkey. The Central Powers conquered Serbia. Romania declared war. The Central Powers conquered Southern Romania and the Romanian capital Bucharest.
In 1916 Emperor Franz Joseph died, and the new monarch Charles IV sympathized with the pacifists. With great difficulty, the Central powers stopped and repelled the attacks of the Russian Empire.
On the Italian front, the Austro-Hungarian army could not make more successful progress against Italy after January 1918.
Austria-Hungary signed general armistice in Padua on 3 November 1918.
In October 1918, Hungary's union with Austria was dissolved.
Romania took control over Transylvania and other parts of eastern Hungary, Czechoslovakia took control over the northern parts (also known as Upper Hungary), and a joint Serbian and French army took control over the southern parts
In March 1919, the Communists took power in Hungary.
On 4 June 1920, the Treaty of Trianon was signed, which established new borders for Hungary. Hungary lost 71% of its territory and 66% of its population.
Rightist Hungarian military forces, led by the former Austro-Hungarian Admiral Miklós Horthy, entered Budapest in the wake of the Romanian army's departure and filled the vacuum of state power.
The Germans and Italians granted back to Hungary a part of southern Czechoslovakia and Subcarpathia in the First Vienna Award of 1938, and then northern Transylvania in the Second Vienna Award of 1940. In 1941, the Hungarian army took part in the invasion of Yugoslavia, regaining some more territories. On 22 June 1941, Germany invaded the Soviet Union under Operation Barbarossa; Hungary joined the German effort and declared war on the Soviet Union, and formally entered World War II on the side of the Axis Powers.
In 1944, as a result of this duplicity, German troops occupied Hungary in what was known as Operation Margarethe.
On 13 February 1945, the Hungarian capital city surrendered unconditionally.
In June 1988, 30,000 demonstrated against Romania's communist Regime plans to demolish Transylvanian villages
Premier Károly Grósz met Mikhail Gorbachev in Moscow, who condoned Hungary's moves toward a multi-party system and promised that the USSR would not interfere in Hungary's internal affairs.
In May, Hungary began taking down its barbed wire fence along the Austrian border – the first tear in the Iron Curtain.
In September Foreign Minister Gyula Horn announced that East German refugees in Hungary would not be repatriated but would instead be allowed to go to the West. The resulting exodus shook East Germany and hastened the fall of the Berlin Wall. On 23 October, Mátyás Szűrös declared Hungary a republic.
All three main political parties advocated economic liberalisation and closer ties with the West. In 1997 in a national referendum 85% voted in favour of Hungary joining the NATO, which followed two years later. In 1998, the European Union began negotiations with Hungary on full membership. Hungary voted in favour of joining the EU, and became a member in 2004.
