Alfred F. Jones
"Got to fight another fight - I gotta run another night
Get it out - check it out
I'm on my way and I don't feel right
I gotta get me back - I can't be beat and that's a fact
It's OK - I'll find a way
You ain't gonna take me down no way" -You Can't Take Me: Bryan Adams

Country: British Colony of America/United States of America
Human name: Alfred F. Jones
Apparent age: 1500: 4; 2010: 21
Gender: Male
Appearance:
Small and usually never seen without his wide, trademark smile; Alfred as a little boy keeps his bright cheerfulness as he had as a teenager and adult. Wide, bright blue eyes and golden blonde hair with a cowlick sticking up from the part in his bangs are matched with slightly sun-licked skin. Unlike his twin, he is slightly taller and has a hardier build though it is hidden by the long white night-gown. Unable to keep his hands empty, he's usually is carrying something in his arms, usually a bunny.
There ain't a single thing you've done
That's gonna phase me
That's gonna phase me
[/size]
Strengths:
- Loyal: Alfred is loyal to a fault, in many ways he can be compared to be like a dog especially to his family and those he is close too. No matter what the circumstance, he will go leaps and bounds to help family and friends especially when they are in a tight spot.
- Durable: With everything that he has seen and been through, he always manages to get through somehow with a smile even if his body is a mangled mess.
- Strong: Even when he was a kid, Alfred always had super-human strength. As a child, he would fling buffalo across the plains and later proving useful when it came to dealing with a lot of other problems. His strength is something that he at times forgets he has until he's doing something such as dragging a car one-handed and having someone frantically asking about it.
- Ambitious: How else could he have grown to be so powerful in 300 years? Despite that he acts like an idiot, he in all actuality is very intelligent and ambitious. He worked hard to get to where he is, despite having to take a very rough road in order to get there.
- Sense of Duty: He has a very strong sense of duty toward his country, people, family, and friends. If something happens, he is there to help in any way that he possibly can even if he has to drop everything that he was working on at the time.
Weaknesses:
- Stubborn/Proud: Stubborn and proud to a fault, he is the type of person who follows his gut no matter what anyone says. His stubbornness and pride has gotten him into many different conflicts and issues, as well as hardly ever seeming to ever learn from them.
- Hero Complex: He feels that he always has to be the hero, that it's his duty to step in if there's any type of conflict as a mediator or to try and help settle the conflict. Once again, it's this kind of thinking and behavior that has gotten him to a large multitude of trouble.
- Bottles Emotions: Alfred is the type of person who keeps smiling no matter what the circumstance, even (and especially) if he's hurting. He doesn't like people, especially those close to him, worrying or even knowing when there's something wrong. He would rather bottle up his emotions and keep them out of sight of the public eye rather than show that anything is wrong.
- Temper: Despite the fact that he is usually very outwardly cheerful, he can have a nasty temper if the wrong buttons are pushed.
- Confronting Issues: He has a very hard time confronting issues and problems, especially if the issues were caused by him. He will try and change the subject or tip-toe around it just to try and avoid talking about it.
Fears:
- Autophobia: Being alone. Alfred is the type that he has to be around people, whether in a good situation or bad despite not knowing really the real reason why. He guesses it had something to do with events when he was a boy.
- Athazagoraphobia: Being forgotten. Potentially why he is as loud and does as much as he does, he doesn't want to be forgotten and possibly disappear in the midst of a crowd.
- Aichmophobia: Needles. Enough said, he hates them.
- Asthenophobia: Weakness.
- Nosocomephobia: Hospitals. Blame Silent Hill.
- Phasmophobia: Ghosts.
Personality: Modern: Alfred F. Jones is a man that may appear to be simple in the way of being dense, derp, and have a one-track mind. He can be loud and at times can be annoying to other countries, but he makes up for it with his bright, ever-present smile and carrying laugh. He's gung-ho about what he believes in, and will barrel into a situation without thinking if it's something that he thinks needs to be taken care of immediately. He has a hero complex, feeling as though he is the one who needs to carry and solve all of the world's problems. Eternally a leader, whenever something arises he takes it upon himself to lead to get the task done. He has gotten to be more mature through the years, especially growing near the end of WWII. He begins to act like less of a teenager, and more of a responsible adult. Despite all dense and derpy appearances, Alfred actually is intelligent and just acts stupid most of the time just to keep others off guard.
Alfred is a family-oriented man. He believes that family is one of the most important things that a person can have, in particular after having to deal with his disastrous break from England when it came to his independence. With his close relationships with his states, he is either considered to be a either a father or an older brother figure. He also now considers England to be more of a father or older brother even more so now that he has gotten older, and keeps in constant touch with his two brothers. Relationships with his brother Matthew for a while were more strained, but the two are beginning to work through their differences and get close again.
There is a side of Alfred that many people don't see because of his loud, outgoing nature in the public's eye. He can be very insecure and has a bad habit of keeping all of his problems to himself, just giving a poker face with a smile to the world to make them think that nothing is bothering him. He bottles up his problems and insecurities, until it finally becomes too much; usually ending up in holing himself in his office or going to his favorite bar. He knows it's not healthy, but he would much rather deal with his problems on his own than have others, especially those he cares about, worrying about him.
1500's: As a little boy, he is cheerfully innocent as well as has a mischievious streak. A little ball of pure, condensed energy; Alfred is hard to keep up with let alone keep settled in one spot for to long. He gets fidgety if he's told to stay in one spot, and will try and sneak off out of the watchful eye of an adult. Ever the prankster even though he wasn't good at them, he would always try and pull some sort of prank on whoever was watching him at the time mostly from seeing if he could and out of boredom. Always seen with a bright grin and wide blue eyes, he is the epitamy of a ray of sunshine even as he grows older.
Loud and unable to keep his thoughts to himself most of the time, he doesn't understand how much that what he says can affect other people. No matter if he is happy or pouting, he keeps his bright ray of sunshine glow no matter what.
Oh, but if you want to have a go
I just want to let you know
I just want to let you know

Family: Before the Europeans discovered America, he considered the Powhatan tribe as well as the animals on the plains along the coast to be his family. They found him on the plains and raised him; taught him how to speak and write in their language, as well as how to hunt (mainly through him watching the warriors). Later though when England and France coming to the shore, they became more parental figures to him as well as his twin brother to the North. With later coming in contact with the more Southern nations and becoming especially close to Argentina, he later came to see her as an older sister.
Friends: He is on generally good terms with many of the modern nations, both in personal and business relationships. He at least tries to remain professional with the ones that he holds a business relationship with, but is always willing and ready to jump and help them as is shown by all of the conflicts and problems that he has gotten himself into. In the 1500s though, the only relation nation-wise that he has is his brother, and later England and France.
Rivals: Despite his attempts to have good relationships with everyone, he continues to have bad relations/rivalries with such nations as North Korea and Russia. With the tension with nuclear warfare and the regime changes in North Korea as well as being allies with South Korea, and the long-running rivalry with Russia especially coming to light with the Cold War. In the 1500s however, he really has no rivals to speak of. Yet.
History: With 2010, came a lot more problems for Alfred in particular with his government. Even though he's been doing all he could to try and clean up the mess caused by his boss and his broken Cabinet, he also had many other things to worry about. The government began to get worse and crumble as time went on, becoming more corrupt and relying on him less and less when the world's problems began to grow worse. The borders were closed to new immigrants under the thought that they needed to worry more about themselves than for other people. With resources rapidly being used up there was a push to get closer to his brother and to have a better partnership to share their resources and their militaries. With their bosses considering the partnership to be a “marriage,” despite the brothers not thinking it to be as such. With his need to help the rest of the world, his brother, and himself, his resources were rapidly being drained as well as beginning to drain his brother's without realizing it himself. After having to go and blow off some steam after the two had a big fight, only to come back and find his brother curled on the couch and not breathing. This caused Alfred to panic, grabbing his brother and rushing him to the hospital. Pacing anxiously in in the Waiting Room, he didn't realize when he passed out himself; blacking out before he hit the floor.
When he woke up, there were no white walls, no smells of sterile rooms or sights of injured and the the sick. There came only the smells of fresh, crisp air and wheat. He found himself in a vast wheat field, wracking his brain to try and figure out how exactly how he got there. He didn't remember blacking out, all he remembered was being in the hospital and waiting for news on his brother. Though, something immediately felt off. His clothes felt a lot looser, and...Feeling that there were no glasses on his face and that he was in the little white night-gown again, confusion immediately turned into panic. Where was he? Why the hell was he a little kid again? Where was his brother and is his brother alright?
While he didn't know what the hell was going on, he at least could figure out the basic time-frame of at least what time period he was in. Didn't look as though England or France had come yet, so...It would be any time now before they would come. This meant though that his Indian families were still alive and he was being given the chance to see them again. Knowing that European influence would be happening sooner or later, he figured he'd get this time in while he could. But wait, what was all of this? Was this some kind of sick, twisted joke or some kind of dream? It had to all be some kind of dream, that or Tony was playing some kind of trick on him.
Trick, dream, or whatever this was, he was sure that's all this even was. First thing was first though, go and find the tribes again and see if any foreigners have even come.
History:
The first actual recorded history of America was when Columbus landed on the island of Hispanola in 1492 leading to the discovery of the New World, though British colonials didn't begin to emerge until 1497. Through the 1500's, the Spaniards moved upward through Mexico after the conquests of the Mayan and Aztec empires and upward into the new country. From 1524 up to 1565 when the now-city of St. Augustine, Flordia was founded by Spanish settlers. The Roanoke colony in 1587 became the first English settlement in Virginia, but was later found abandoned in 1590. The first formal English colony that actually survived was the colony of Jamestown in 1607, later slavery was brought into the country in 1619 and the Mayflower contract being signed only a year later. Through the 1630's up till the 1640's, different colonies as well as universities were beginning to be founded such as Harvard College and Delaware as examples. The 1640's were the beginning of wars among the native people of the land, such as the war against the French and the Iroqoius tribe and the Third Anglo–Powhatan War.
With changes in the monarchy in England, charters were made for new colonies such as the signing of the treaty by William Penn to create the colony of Pennsylvania. Through the 1690's, mass witch hysteria runs rampant through New England, mainly in the town of Salem, Massachusetts. The early 1700's were relatively quiet, however changed with the end of the French and Indian War leading to the beginning of the Seven Years War in 1754; among the conflict, the Albany Congress proposes a “Union Among the Colonies.” Where the trouble really begins for relations with the British and Colonists. With the Treaty of Paris being signed in 1763, it marks the beginning of the Revolutionary Era. With taxes and different acts being placed on the colonists such as taxes on tea, sugar, papers goods, etc. as well as making it a law to have the colonists house the British soldiers began to push the thoughts of the colonists toward Revolution. Battles, massacres, and acts of rebellion took place all through the 1760's, the most infamous and well-known being the Boston Massacre of 1770 and the Boston Tea Party in 1773. With the passing of the Intolerable Acts in 1774, it pushed the colonists over the edge. The First Continental Congress is formed, and the Declaration of Independence is signed on July 4, 1776. The war continued up until the seige of Yorktown, where the British surrendered on October 19, 1781. Britain informally acknowledged their independence in 1782, and the war officially ended with the signing of the Treaty of Paris in 1783. The Constitution went into full effect in 1789, with President George Washington becoming the first President of the United States of America.
From the 1790's up through the 1850's, America along with trying to get on it's feet began to begin to show it's power as a new Nation with the assistance of the Texas War for Independence from Mexico and the US-Mexico War. However in the end of the 1850's, debates between the North and South over the issue of slavery began to rise, leading to the Civil War from 1861-1865. With the Confederacy led by Robert E. Lee and the Union led by General Grant; battles such as Fort Sumpter and Gettysburg paved the way to the Union victory, only to be sealed by the Battle of Appomatox with Union victory. The war leaving the country divided and struggling to become one who nation again, continued to lead to many more problems in the new coming century.
The Roaring Twenties with Prohibition and mob bootlegging of liquour, the excessive lifestyle that the Americans were leading along with the creation of machinery for mass-production helped lead to the Stock Market Crash of 1929, leading to the Great Depression. With FDR's promise for a “New Deal” to get the country out of the Depression, while not working brought Americans a new hope to get the whole country out of a time of crisis. Only when the United States joined WWII after the bombing of Pearl Harbor in 1941 did the country's economy begin to take a turn for the better. After German surrender, the war in the Pacific Front began with Japan. After the death of FDR and the instation of Harry Truman, it was decided that the war had run to long and to test America's new weapon created from the Manhattan Project. Two atomic bombs were dropped in 1945, one in Hiroshima and one in Nagasaki. Japan surrendered to the Allies not a week later.
America soon allied themselves with South Korea in October 1950 against North Korea, Russia, and China, and remained until the Armistrice in 1953. The Civil Rights movement began and ending in 1964 with the Civil Rights Act to end racial segregation across the nation along with the Cold War against the USSR. Such things as the Space Race in 1957 and the “Red Scare” of Communism swept through the nation. America officially joined in the war in Vietnam in 1961 up till the end in 1975. in 1973, the Watergate Scandal involving President Nixon occurs with secret tapes being found in Nixon's office and in 1974 is pardoned by President Ford for “any crimes that he may have committed against the country.” President Bush along with the Soviet leader released statements in 1989 claiming that the Cold War was coming to an end with it coming officially to an end in 1991 however only leading to the beginning of the Gulf War. Oklahoma City Bombing in 1995, President Clinton in 1997 claiming that the government would provide funding for clone research, leading into the Lewinski Scandel of 1998. The beating death of Matthew Shepard of 1998 lead to the nation-wide reflection of homophobia, in 1999, the shooting at Columbine High School and the Y2K scare for the new millinium.
Economic growth and terroristic attacks launched the 2000's. With the 2001 attack on the New York Trade Centers along with attacks using anthrax leading to the Patriot Act of 2001. From 2003-Current the “Iraqi War on Terror” and the search for Osama Bin Laden and the war against Al Quida and Saddam Hussein really began. Hurricane Katrina in 2005 devastated the South, particurally in the lower parts of Louisianna and causing many people to flee from their homes and take refuge in nearby states which in turn caused the country to band together to help the places hit the hardest. (Speaking from experience, I went to New Orleans that Spring Break after the hurricane occurred to help with the clean-up. College students from all over the country went to New Orleans to help with the gutting and stripping of houses that were submerged under water.) The Recession officially began in 2007, and President Barack Obama became the first African-American president in the history of the nation.
A/N: After how many years of American History I'd better know all of this crap. >B|

It was finally almost over, he could feel it. He hoped and prayed that this was the end, he now at least understood what England felt like when he declared his own independence from him not even 100 years ago. However, that was a war between two people. This war. It was a war with himself. Through the course of the years, he could only watch as the people...His people...Fighting amongst themselves over something so asinine. He knew that not only his states, but also the people didn't realize how much this war affected their leader. Every day. Every night. Every battle. Every death. A dark, crazed voice cooed in his ear, it felt as though he were at war with himself; a war for his own sanity and state of being. There were days that he didn't even remember, only black and to wake up in some strange place that he didn't recognize; sometimes lying on the grass, pistol in his hand, uniform covered with dried blood. Grass where a battle had taken place, blood from felled men. He could tell from whatever uniform he was in he could at least guess what had happened, but that didn't stop him from looking up at the sky and just scream as loud as he could. From the very beginning, he could feel that soon not even his own state of being would be safe. He wanted to stay neutral, he felt as though he had to stay neutral; he couldn't be on one side and then the other.
That didn't happen.
There were days when he looked into the mirror and just wanted to throw his fist into it to smash the glass to get rid of the reflection that he had come to hate. He had changed, he could tell though he tried his hardest to keep it out of sight of the army's leaders and of his states. There were days when he could even see changes of the color of the blue of his eyes, Alfred could at least tell which one was which by then. But neither were him, his mind had split into three parts. One the Confederacy, one the Union, and one being just him himself. He didn't even hold the key anymore, it was being fought over by three completely separate people. The walls were closing in and turning into sand in his grip, all three parts feeling as though they were beginning to run together and fight each other.
This was it. This final battle would determine...Everything.
The battle was coming to Appomatox, he could see the fires the night before from the burning of what he could only guess were from the court house. Grant and his army were there, all waiting for word from Lee and his army. When they finally had...Grant's words he knew from that night on, he could never forget them.
"It looks as if Lee still means to fight."
If they still wanted to fight along with Lee claiming that he would rather die a thousand deaths than see him or General Grant...Then so be it. This would be the end, the final roll of the dice. It had to be, not only for his own sake, but for everyone's.
The fog hung heavy and low that morning, the cool wind blowing on his back with the sounds of drums filling his ears. Standing next to General Grant, he could only watch as Lee's army marched over the hill toward the soon-to-be battlefield. Alfred wished that there was another way to end this war, but he knew he had no choice. This war had drawn out for to long, he wasn't sure how much longer either army could hold out or how much longer he could hold out physically, mentally, and emotionally.
He could only watch as men ran forward to lock in combat; sounds of yelling battle cries, metal clanging, gunshots filled his ears. He hated that he could only watch as the battle took place, watching as sharp pains seared through his own body as if he was the one being stabbed and shot. Hissing as he clutched to his chest, he struggled to keep his footing before falling onto one knee on the dew-covered grass; the two conflicting voices only growing louder and more violent as they fought, his head feeling as though it were splitting in two, unbearable pain shot through his body as his hands clutched tightly to his head with his fingers clutching tightly to his own hair. God DAMN it!
Shaking violently, he looked out at the battlefield again and out of the corner of his eye he saw a little girl in white and clinging to a teddy bear. It...It couldn't be. It couldn't...Trembling as he tried to shakily push himself up to his feet, he took a second to keep his balance before carefully walking forward, to a jog, then to a full-out sprint as he pushed through the sea of bodies locked in battle. Eyes widened when he heard her scream his name, pushing even harder to get to her before yelling himself as he pushed through the crowd, "GINNY! HANG ON GINNY I'M COMING! OUTTA MY WAY!"Shattered windows and the sound of drums
People couldn't believe what I'd become
